Zoe has tagged me with a meme. Or actually Sage has tagged Liam. I'm a little afraid that if I let Liam loose on here I will never get him off (he thinks I do *work* in here - what happens when he find out the truth?). But he doesn't want to let Sage down, so without further ado, I give you, Liam:
Total number of books I've owned:
I don't know. My mum reminds me sometimes that some of the books I own are really hers from when she was a little girl. And when I say, no, they are from when I was a little girl, she just laughs. But I have three shelves of books in the living room (small shelves, about a foot wide) and another shelf in my bedroom. I think they're all mine. Also I used to have some other ones that my mum has hidden away cause she thinks I'll forget about them by the time she has another baby. Then again at the rate she's going I may have moved out by then, so maybe she's right.
The last book I bought:
My mum is too stingy to buy me books. She borrows them from the library instead. And I happen to know that she has a bag of books stashed away somewhere that someone gave her. They gave them to her for me, but she thought there were too many so she weeded out the ones that she said were too old for me. But that was ages ago so I think she should find them and give them to me.
Oh wait, she did give me a brand new book two days ago when we were having a comfy-cosy PJs day. It's called Spy in the Night, written by Felicia Law, illustrated by Jan Smith (my mum told me to say that). I like it because it has lots of purple in it which is my favourite colour. And also because I'm a spy too. I have my own spy magnafine-glass.
The last book I read:
Old King Cole and the Very Merry Feast by Penny Dann. I like this because it's purple too. And also it has balloons and cakes and biscuits in it. I especially like the page with the Old Lady who lives in the shoe, because the shoe looks really fun to slide down. I like sliding down things. I like to climb up my mummy and pretend she's a pole that I can slide down. Also the shoe is pink and purple (I think pink is a very nice colour too, don't you? But not as good as purple. Purple is my favourite. My friend Isaac said that purple is his favourite the other day, but it's not, it's mine! Anyway his mum said his favourite is usually lellow.).
Five books that mean a lot to me:
Slinky Malinki, by Lynley Dodd, is a really great book. It's one of the first books I learned to say off by heart, so my mum and dad both learned it too. I especially like the part that goes 'ON went the lights, BANG! went the door, out came the people, One two three four five.' Oh, Mummy says there are only four people. She thinks it's important that four rhymes with door, but I think five is better.
The Teddy Bears' Daring Rescue, by mystery author, published by Tormont. My mum says it has atrocious grammar, that the personal pronouns often don't refer to the people they are supposed to and that she's not surprised no one wanted to put their hand up as author. But I don't care, she fixes it when she reads it to me, and it is a great story about how Tatty Teddy rescues Little Bear who is stuck in the tree.
You are my I love You, written by Mariann K. Cusimano, illustrated by Satomi Ichikawao, is a rhyming book about a little bear and a big bear. We don't actually read it all that much but my mum loves it and she made me put it in here. I do like the page that says "I am your dinner; you are my chocolate cake. I am your bedtime; you are my wide awake." And Mummy likes the ones that say "I am your way home; you are my new path. I am your dry towel; you are my wet bath." But my favourite pages are the ones that say "I am your lullaby; you are my peekaboo. I am your goodnight kiss; you are my I love you." I like those pages best because they are all in PURPLE.
Goodnight Moon, by Margaret Wise Brown, pictures by Clement Hurd, is one of my favourite books. We used to read it every single night before bed, and I like it so much that I gnawed off almost the whole binding.
Peter Rabbit, by Beatrix Potter is my favourite story. I like the bits with Mr McGregor best. I have it on tape and when my mum taped it off an old record she tried to cut out the bit where Peter says "I'm naughty, I have lots of fun though" but it didn't work. I like to listen to it over and over again. Sometime Mummy reads it to me out of a book, but that's not as fun because there's no singing. Anyway she likes me to listen to the tape because after Peter Rabbit it's got Winnie the Pooh stories with funny English accents which for some reason she likes better than the American ones we borrow from the libry.
