When I was signing Mikaela in at her kindergarten class this morning, she pointed a boy out to me:
"See that boy in the red hat? That's W. He loves me and he wants to marry me. But I want to marry A."
This said very matter of factly by my four year old, about six weeks into her first year of school. I remember at this age - or slightly older - Liam very innocently counting up how many girl friends and boy friends he had, but there was nothing at all of exclusivity in it.
Since then of course, Liam has had several massive crushes (not that he would ever have discribed them that way) on individual girls. There seems to have been about one a year since he was six.*
The funny part is that A, who Mikaela wants to marry (though I don't know that he wants to marry her) is the younger brother of Liam's latest crush. Maybe they can double playdate.

*It occurs to me that I am going to have to stop writing things like this about Liam awfully soon. And probably lock up my archives as well. Rats.
