This just in: Chris is waiting for an ambulance after injuring his back at hapkido training. This is why I wish he would do pilates instead of hapkido! Not the same thing at all, I do realise, but then that's the point isn't it?

You know how sometimes you hit the send button on an email, and just as you do it you see a mistake, a glaring typo?
Has the typo ever been 'Wee you soon' ?
It has for me now.
Yesterday our monitor died. At least, it may be dead. It won't turn on, anyway. It's four years old, which is old, in computer terms, but not old enough for a DNR order, so we'll get it looked at.
In the mean time we are stuck with a flickering 15" monitor on 600x800 res (the only other option being 1024x768 which flickers so much as to be completely unbearable) and no option to change the refresh rate. This is particularly sad as I started work on a new story yesterday (having finished a complete draft of my story for uni, I've decided it sux and started something completely different), and that's what I really want to be working on now, while I have a little break. But flickering monitors are concentration killers, and besides, I am forced to blog about the monitor, and therefore can't be writing...
Did you get that I completely finished a draft of my story? And I have a complete draft of my other uni assignment too. And mat leave isn't for five more weeks. That's pretty good, hey? Too bad I've decided I have to write something else completely different now...
The sound of rain falling steadily on the roof. It's almost unfamiliar, and so lovely.
I love the change in temperature from warmish last week, to hot (33 degrees C) early this week, and cold (17C) today. It's so much more interesting than hot hot hot, warmish, cold cold cold cold. Although, the fact that a couple of days ago the weather bureau was predicting a possible frost for tomorrow is just wrong. We're supposed to have almost till ANZAC Day (25 April) before the frost settles in.
I like the fact that today I get to rug up and be like it's winter. Just so long as next week I get to dress in a singlet top and shorts again.
But I could wish it was going to be a little warmer on Sunday (current forecast says 23C and mostly cloudy), since that is when we are having Liam's third birthday party. Yep. Third. He turns three on Monday. Who can believe that?
Just so you know, I do realise that I have narrating kayoz, all lower case, at the top of this page, but that I frequently write it as Narrating kayoz, maybe even Narrating Kayoz, elsewhere.
I am okay with this. In my work - writing and editing, mostly - I am very good about consistency and style guides. This is my play, and I refuse to be pedantic about punctuation, damn it. I even sometimes have capitals for my post titles and sometimes don't, that's how free and easy I am about my punctuation.
And before you say something like, 'me thinks she dost protest too much': Yeah, OK, I am a little pedantic about punctuation. But I am making an effort, alright? This is my play, and I am working hard at making it easy.
It's lowercase because I like the way it looks that way, and for no other reason. Sometimes it's uppercase because, after all, it is a proper noun, and proper nouns start with capitals. But Kayoz just looks weird with a capital K, don't you think?
Note to self: Take some time to do some research and find out: is there a way to disable the 'overwrite/insert' key? I am so sick of accidently pressing it instead of backspace on our new keyboard, and ending up overwriting a bunch of text.
